This is the most beautiful property in the Fall season. There are maples everywhere and they are the most beautiful shades of orange, yellow, and crimson. This is my favorite spot for fall pictures.
The pasture is flanked by three maples that frame some of the most beautiful images of the season.
There is another maple just outside our bedroom window that puts on a serious show. I hate cleaning up the yellow carpet of leaves because they are so beautiful!
The Secret Garden is always gorgeous and stately, the boxwoods stay green all year.
Yet another maple stands just off the 300 year old stone curbed well at the back of the house. There may not be a better combination than fall leaves and slate.
The barn red stables accent the foliage beautifully. Sadly, they are still in need of considerable repair this year.
This fall it is all about firewood for us. We do use the wood burning fireplaces in the house every day to off-set heating costs of a house with no insulation. Firewood is on our minds every single day.
We are gathering, chopping, and burning our way into the winter.
We're harvesting walnuts as well, is there anything better than fresh walnuts at Thanksgiving? Nuts would definitely have been a priority here at Boscobel in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is exciting to us to carry on a lifestyle of self-sufficiency.
